Betach Solutions is a leading implementer of products and solutions that enable the mobile work force. Enabling the mobile work force can be broken down into two core types of products or solutions.

The first is Field Service Automation (FSA). FSA solutions allow you to build forms, deploy those forms on to devices that are in the hands or vehicles of the field personnel, push data to those devices/forms, collect data from those devices/forms, manage those devices/forms (e.g. take forms away, add new forms, modify forms and modify data), and provide tools to integrate the data once collected into back end operational systems. Additionally those back end operational systems can also provide data that is deployed out to the mobile devices/forms, thus supporting a bi-directional data flow. These solutions must support the fact that as a wireless device, you are going to be operating in an occasionally disconnected world. That means sometimes you will have a connection (such as EVDO, 1X, GPRS, WiFi (802.11), Bluetooth, or hard wired) and sometimes you will not and the fact that you do not have a connection should not take away the ability for you to do your job.

The second type of product or solution that enables the mobile work force is a Field Force Automation (FFA) or a Mobile Work Force Management (MWFM) solution. These two terms can be used interchangeably. These types of solutions do all that FSA solutions do plus additional functionalities such as dispatch, work force load leveling, pictorial representation of the work force and requisites (defining prerequisites that may be required prior to automated or manual dispatch of resources to fulfill work). A FFA or MWFM solution tends to be a very full featured platform for either very large or complex mobile work forces solutions.
